From September 23, 2024, to September 26, 2024, the International Center for Finance and Trade, in collaboration with the University of Sulaymaniyah, held an exceptional course titled "Customer Service" in the University's hall. Participants included representatives from private and public banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, and tourism firms.
On Thursday, September 5, 2024, Dr. Hussein Flamerz Taher, the executive director of the Youth Employment Initiative (Riada), which is supervised by the Prime Minister of Iraq, visited the International Center for Finance and Trade. During his visit, he discussed the potential for collaboration and coordination regarding the Riada initiative.
On September 4, 2024, an official delegation from the Central Bank of Iraq visited the International Center for Finance and Trade. During the visit, discussions were held regarding the progress of the final phase of the Center's operations. Additionally, the possibility of opening the first official office of the Central Bank of Iraq at the International Center for Finance and Trade in the near future was explored.
On August 7, 2024, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq held a meeting in his office with Deputation of International Center for Finance and Commerce, headed by Professor Dr. Saad Al-Sheikh, Director General of the Center. The Governor expressed his full support for the progress of the International Center for Finance and Trade, which is nearing completion and is set to become the Premier Financial and Commercial hub in Kurdistan and Iraq. The discussion focused on enhancing coordination and collaboration between the Central Bank of Iraq and the International Center to further advance the financial transactions market.
The International Center for Finance and Trade, in collaboration with the University of Sulaymaniyah, organized an advanced training course on Documentary Credits and International Rules (UCP600). The course took place from June 30 to July 4, 2024, and was attended by a select group of specialists representing financial and banking institutions from various provinces of Iraq. At the closing of the course, Professor Dr. Saad Sheikh, General Director of the International Center for Finance and Trade, delivered a speech, and certificates of completion were distributed to the participants.
The inaugural session of the course on "Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation, and Their Application in Institutional Development" has concluded successfully. The event was co-hosted by the International Center for Finance and Commerce and Sulaimani University. During the closing ceremony, certificates acknowledging and commemorating the participants' involvement in the course were distributed to all attendees.
On May 9, 2024, Professor Dr. Saad Abdul-Qahar Sheikh, the General Director of the International Center for Finance and Trade, attended the 20th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Iraqi Securities Commission in Baghdad. The event was attended by a large number of senior government officials and representatives from financial and banking institutions. Several key topics were discussed during the gathering, aimed at improving and developing the Iraqi financial market, along with strategic plans to support the growth of this vital sector within the Iraqi economy.
On 23/4/2024, a joint cooperation agreement was signed in Erbil between the International Center for Finance and Trade and Tishk University, covering scientific, technical, research, and training fields. The agreement was signed on behalf of the International Center by Professor Dr. Saad Abdul Qahhar Sheikh, the Director-General of the center, and on behalf of Tishk University by Professor Dr. Sultan Abu Arabi, the University President and former Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Universities.
An official delegation from the General Administration of Al-Rasheed Bank, headed by the Regional Director for the Northern Region, Mr. Mohammed, visited the International Center for Finance and Trade in Sulaymaniyah. Accompanied by a delegation from Al-Rasheed Bank, they were welcomed by Professor Dr. Saad Abdul Qahhar Sheikh, the Director-General of the Center, and several members of the senior management team.
Today, on 19-02-2024, at the International Center for Finance and Trade, a formal reception was held for Mr. Amanj Yarwaisi, the President of MEED FOUNDATION. During a highly important and substantial meeting, discussions were conducted regarding the strategic plans and projects aimed at fostering collaboration and creating better coordination for future endeavors.
A formal delegation from the international organization UNDP Iraq visited the International Center for Finance and Trade. On Friday, 15-02-2024, the General Director of the International Center for Finance and Trade welcomed the UNDP Iraq delegation, whose purpose was to gain insights into the activities and operations of the center.
Within the framework of the International Center for Finance and Trade's operational strategy, aimed at fostering greater collaboration and coordination, on 16-11-2023, the center's Director-General signed a memorandum of understanding with the President of Sulaimaniyah University. The purpose of this agreement is to enhance joint efforts in scientific research and to provide more services to the labor market in Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan, and Iraq.
The implementation of a cooperation agreement between the International Center for Finance and Trade and the Iraqi Securities Commission and Iraq Stock Exchange has recently been initiated in the Sulaymaniyah province. A suitable location was selected and dedicated for this project. Currently, preparations are ongoing to arrange all necessary administrative, technical, and financial resources required for launching the office and branch operations.
